Onboarding speed and platform stability with prop firms

Been giving some thought to the typical onboarding process for prop firms and how much it varies. It seems like a pretty crucial piece of infrastructure that often gets overlooked in favor of just focusing on the challenge itself. Beyond the initial KYB, which is usually a known quantity, I'm curious about others' experiences with the speed of account setup once funded, and more importantly, the stability and execution quality of the underlying platforms once trading live. Are we generally seeing dedicated institutional-grade setups, or are many firms essentially reselling retail broker access with all the associated quirks? Specifically interested in payout reliability once you're consistently withdrawing — any noticeable degradation in execution or increased slippage after a few successful payouts, or is that just a conspiracy theory I'm cooking up?

It's always a bit of a gamble, isn't it? You clear the hurdles, pass the challenge, and then you're left wondering if your shiny new funded account will materialize before the next market crash or if it'll be stuck in bureaucratic limbo. My personal record for 'fastest post-funding setup to actually-trading' is still distressingly close to 'longest wait for a dentist appointment'.

That's a great point. While KYB is standard, the actual time it takes for a funded account to become active can differ significantly, and it definitely impacts early trading opportunities. Stability is key, too; unexpected downtime can be costly.

That's a really good point. I've definitely seen some firms where the onboarding feels like an afterthought, and others that are super smooth. It makes a big difference to how quickly you can actually get started.
