Thoughts on Oil amid Shifting Geopolitics and Inventory Build

The latest EIA report showing an unexpected build in crude inventories, coupled with some easing geopolitical tensions, has me revisiting my oil long-term thesis. We saw $PSP nudge higher today, which is interesting given the broader energy complex, but I'm more focused on the underlying supply-demand dynamics. While I generally still see demand holding up better than some anticipate, the inventory data suggests some near-term headwinds that could cap significant upside for WTI and Brent, at least for now. Watching how this plays out against the upcoming inflation data and central bank rhetoric.

It's a tricky one. While the EIA build is notable, I'm cautious about reading too much into short-term inventory data alone without considering the refiner maintenance season and seasonal demand shifts. Are you factoring in the potential for strategic reserve releases or any new production coming online?

I'm with you on keeping an eye on the broader supply-demand picture beyond just the EIA's weekly snapshot. The market seems to be discounting geopolitical risk a bit too much, especially with persistent underinvestment in certain regions.
