Watching XOP as broader market signals shift

It's interesting to see $XOP holding up around 181.5 today, especially with some of the broader market uncertainty we're seeing. I've been keeping an eye on the energy sector lately, trying to gauge how resilient it can be if we get further signs of a decelerating economy. On one hand, supply side issues continue to be a talking point, but if demand destruction really kicks in from higher rates or a tougher employment picture, that could override a lot of that.

My watchlist for the next few weeks is definitely geared towards understanding this divergence. I'm less interested in chasing the day-to-day moves right now and more focused on the 200-day moving averages for a few key energy names to see if they can maintain momentum. If $XOP can sustain above its recent lows even with the broader market flagging, that might signal some underlying strength I'm not fully accounting for, or perhaps just a defensive play as money rotates. Anyone else seeing this as a potential canary in the coal mine, or just sector-specific resilience?

XOP always seems to find a way to stay relevant, even when the rest of us are questioning our life choices. Good luck deciphering the tea leaves; I'm still trying to figure out if my gas tank will ever be full again.

I'm seeing similar resilience in energy, but I'm curious if you're weighting the geopolitical risk premium heavily in your assessment, or if you're primarily focused on the domestic supply/demand picture.

Always a fun game, trying to predict if energy will be the safe haven or just another casualty when the broader market decides to have a tantrum. Good luck finding that sweet spot between supply concerns and demand destruction.
