Onshoring, Offshore, and the Tech Talent Drain

Been thinking a bit about the ongoing push for reshoring manufacturing and even some tech ops, particularly given the various supply chain headaches we've seen globally. While the focus is often on manufacturing jobs, there's a quieter but significant impact on the tech sector. If companies are encouraged to bring more sophisticated R&D and specialized engineering back home, it could theoretically put a squeeze on the readily available, often more cost-effective, talent pools that many offshore banking clients have historically leveraged.

The discussions around $PLTR and its government contracts, for example, often touch on national security and data sovereignty, which implicitly supports more localized development. If this trend strengthens, particularly with incentives or regulatory nudges, it could reshape the demand for certain types of offshore corporate accounts or even create new opportunities for specialized financial services in regions that do manage to retain or attract this high-skill workforce. It's not a direct correlation to rates or CPI, but it's a long-term structural shift worth monitoring for anyone involved in advising on international corporate structures. Curious if others are seeing this play out in their client discussions.
