Watching CAD's reaction to upcoming BoC remarks
I'm looking at $USDCAD and honestly, it feels like we're treading water a bit after that recent run. Currently at 1.41212. I'm putting about a 60% probability that we see a retest of the 1.4050-1.4070 range by end of next week, especially if the Bank of Canada strikes a more dovish tone than expected in their upcoming statements. The market seems to be pricing in a bit too much hawkishness given the cooling inflation data and potential softening in domestic demand. If we get confirmation of that dovish pivot, I think the pair has room to give back some of the recent gains. Conversely, a hawkish surprise could easily push us towards 1.4150 and beyond, but I see that as the less likely scenario right now, maybe 40% odds.

Interesting take. I'm also watching USDCAD closely, but I'm leaning more towards a potential upside if the BoC doesn't surprise with dovishness. Do you think the current CAD strength is sustainable if oil prices fluctuate?
