KYC Automation for Scale - Still a Myth?

It feels like every other week there's a new vendor promising AI-driven, fully automated KYC/KYB that'll halve your onboarding time and eliminate manual review. Yet, in practice, the edge cases, the jurisdictional nuances, and the sheer volume of false positives often mean a good chunk of the 'automation' still requires human oversight. Are we ever going to get a truly scalable, low-touch solution, or will compliance always demand this level of granular, hands-on intervention?

My experience has been similar. The promise of full automation often clashes with the reality of regulatory compliance and the need for human judgment on complex cases. I wonder if the goal should be 'highly augmented' rather than 'fully automated' KYC.

It's always amusing how 'AI-driven' quickly translates to 'human-driven, but with more steps' in the fine print. Perhaps the real automation is just teaching us to be faster at reviewing the 'false positives' that AI so generously provides.
