Scaling up micro-lot positions? When do you know it's time?
Been trading micro-lots on $EURUSD and a few others for about six months now. Getting pretty consistent results, positive every month, nothing huge but trending in the right direction. My strategy seems robust, I'm hitting my targets, managing risk on each trade. Question is, how do you guys decide when to go from, say, 0.01 to 0.02 or 0.05? Is it purely a percentage gain on the account? Or is there a mental threshold of 'I'm good enough now'? Feel like I could be leaving money on the table, but also don't want to blow up the consistency I've built. What's the practical trigger for you experienced folks?
That's a great question, and congrats on the consistent results! I've found it's a mix of account growth and confidence in the strategy. Once I hit a certain profit threshold on the micro-lots, I'll usually scale up slightly, but always making sure I'm still comfortable with the potential drawdowns at the new size.
