USDCAD holding up despite oil dip, keeping an eye on BOC next week

Watching $USDCAD trading at 1.4052 today. Oil’s taken a bit of a tumble in the last 24 hours, but the pair hasn't really reacted as strongly as one might expect. It’s holding pretty firm, even bumping up to 1.40539 earlier. Seems like the market might be more focused on other drivers, maybe anticipating some hawkish undertones from the Bank of Canada next week.

I'm still keeping a close watch on any further weakness in crude, but for now, the CAD isn't showing the sensitivity I'd usually expect. This makes me think about potential divergence in central bank rhetoric shaping up. Definitely curious to see how the BOC statement plays out; it could be the catalyst to push $USDCAD beyond this range, or reinforce it. My watchlist is poised for a reaction.

Interesting point about USDCAD holding strong despite the oil dip. Do you think the market is completely shrugging off the oil price movements, or is it more of a delayed reaction that we might see play out later?
