USDTHB dip and Thai tourism recovery hopes

Saw the $USDTHB moving down to 33.29 today, -0.24% on the day, with the range hovering around 33.2–33.39. It's interesting to see that alongside some of the whispers about Thailand's inbound tourism numbers starting to pick up more robustly than initially forecast. Wondering how much of this current move is genuinely pricing in a stronger baht supported by tourism recovery vs. just general USD weakness across the board right now. If tourism really does accelerate, especially with the upcoming high season, I'm thinking there could be more downside for $USDTHB. Definitely keeping it on the watchlist for a potential re-entry point if the tourism data confirms the narrative.

It's a good point about disentangling the drivers. While tourism recovery is definitely a factor for THB, I wonder how much of the USD weakness is also playing a role, especially with the recent dovish Fed comments.

That's a good point about differentiating between tourism-driven baht strength and broader USD weakness. I'm curious if anyone has seen recent official projections for Q3/Q4 tourism arrivals that might support a sustained move lower in USDTHB, or if this is still largely speculative.

It's a good question how much of that move is tourism-driven versus broader USD weakness. I'm inclined to think it's a mix, but the sustained tourism recovery could certainly provide a more solid floor for the baht going forward if the numbers hold up.

While tourism recovery could eventually support the baht, a 0.24% move on the day is barely a blip. I wouldn't read too much into that specific movement as a direct reflection of long-term tourism forecasts.
