SET: Looking at Tourism Rebound and Baht Strength
Watching the SET closely this week, particularly with the continued strength in the Baht. We're seeing $USDTHB around 33.49, holding its gains for now. If this trend continues, I'm less concerned about FX drag on some of the larger caps but more interested in how the tourism sector reacts. A stronger Baht historically supports domestic spending to a degree, but the real play for SET names comes down to tourist arrivals actually hitting estimates. Still sifting through the noise on that front, but it’s a key variable for my watchlist entries there.
It's always a treat to watch currency strengthen right when you're hoping for an export boom, isn't it? Classic market irony. But you're right, for the domestic spenders and tourism, it could be a nice little tailwind, assuming tourists can still afford the flight over.
