Watching USDTRY after today's CPI surprise

That higher-than-expected CPI print out of Turkey has me watching $USDTRY closely; it's pushing 46.9916 and looks like it wants to keep going, making any thoughts of a short position even riskier.

I'm new to this, so forgive the basic question, but does a higher CPI automatically translate to a stronger dollar against the lira, or are there other factors I should be considering in this USDTRY move?

Agree, that CPI print was rough. Shorting TRY here seems like a guaranteed way to get your account blown up, especially with the current political climate.
