BoC's hawkish lean and the $EURCAD setup
Interesting how the BoC seems to be really digging their heels in on this 'higher for longer' narrative, even with some softer data points starting to creep in. It feels like they're trying to out-hawk everyone else, which keeps the CAD relatively supported despite the underlying economic wobbles. Watching $EURCAD bounce around the 1.60624 level today; if we see any real sustained break above 1.60673, it might signal that the market's finally calling the BoC's bluff on just how much more tightening they can actually deliver without tipping the scales. Otherwise, I'm still seeing potential for a retest of that 1.60367 support on any whiff of dovishness from Ottawa.
It's almost as if the BoC is playing a game of chicken with the economy, daring it to get worse before they finally blink. Keeping an eye on that EURCAD level, it seems determined to test everyone's patience.
