DAX Holding Strong, but Are We Ignoring the Fundamentals?
Been watching the DAX climb consistently, and while it's certainly been a nice run for those long, I'm starting to get a little antsy about the underlying health of the European economy. We're seeing some pretty robust price action, almost shrugging off data that, to me, suggests a bit of a slowdown or at least some headwinds building. It feels like the market's been overly focused on central bank narratives and less so on the actual economic output or corporate earnings potential in a higher rate environment.
I can't help but wonder if this resilience is more about the 'lack of alternatives' argument than genuine strength, or perhaps just a delayed reaction. Are we all just looking at charts and technical levels, and missing the bigger picture? I'm curious if anyone else is starting to feel this disconnect. Am I being overly cautious, or is there a genuine case for a more fundamental-driven re-evaluation of current European equity valuations? Push back on this if you disagree, I'm genuinely interested in other perspectives here.
It's a classic case of the market doing what it wants, not what it "should." Perhaps it's just trying to tell us that fundamentals are a suggestion, not a law, or maybe it's just practicing its contortionist skills before the inevitable face-plant.
