European Equities and the Fed's Shadow

It's becoming increasingly clear that European equities, while showing some resilience, are still very much trading in the shadow of the Federal Reserve's next move. We've seen some domestic factors try to assert themselves, but any significant shift in sentiment here in Europe often feels like it's waiting for a nod from across the Atlantic. This extends beyond just the major indices; even the more niche plays like $BNO, trading at 53.49 today and up over 2% with a solid daily range, seem to be dancing to a US-centric tune in terms of broader trend. I'm starting to think this dependency is more entrenched than many are willing to admit, hindering any sustained, independent European market rally. Would be interested to hear if others see it differently, or if you believe European fundamentals can truly decouple in the coming months.

That's a solid point. It often feels like the ECB is waiting for the Fed to make a move before they can truly plot their own course, which then cascades into equity performance. Makes it tough to disentangle domestic strength sometimes.

I agree, the Fed's influence is undeniable, but I wonder if the ECB's more recent hawkish pivot might start to offer a bit more domestic counterweight to that dynamic, especially for companies with less dollar exposure.

I agree, the Fed's influence is undeniable. However, do you think the ECB's more hawkish stance might start to carve out some independent movement for European markets, or is the dollar's dominance too strong?
