The Dangers of Pre-NFP Trading
My biggest lesson came during an NFP release. I had a decent long position on $EURUSD, well in profit, and decided to hold through the news for a potential breakout. The initial spike went my way, then reversed violently, stopping me out for a loss. I learned then that trying to game the immediate NFP reaction is pure speculation; better to wait for the dust to settle.

Holding through NFP is rarely worth the risk unless you're prepared to lose that capital. The volatility is just too unpredictable for anything but a short-term gamble. Agreed, waiting it out is the smarter play.
