Fed comments and the DeFi outlook
Interesting how quickly the narrative shifted post-Powell's relatively hawkish tone this week. The market seems to be pricing in a longer hold on higher rates, which naturally cools some of the risk appetite, especially in more speculative sectors.
I'm watching some of the DeFi plays closely here. While the broader market absorbed the news, some alt-L1s and liquid staking derivatives (LSDs) are holding up better than expected. $LDO up 4.63% today, trading at $0.295, despite a slight pullback in the majors, is noteworthy. It suggests a potential rotation or at least some underlying strength in specific narratives within DeFi. Meanwhile, $ROSE is flat at $11.66, showing some resilience but not the same speculative uptick.
My watchlist is leaning towards protocols with strong fundamentals and clear value accrual mechanisms, rather than purely speculative plays. The rate environment will likely continue to put pressure on liquidity, so solid tokenomics and active development are key. Still curious to see if this resilience holds up if macro conditions tighten further, or if it's just a temporary bounce in specific names.
