Inflation data and DeFi yield hunting

The latest inflation numbers, while showing some cooling, still carry enough heat to keep the Fed's rhetoric hawkish, which means higher for longer rates remain the prevailing wisdom. This directly impacts how I'm thinking about DeFi yield. When risk-free rates are elevated, the hurdle for attractive, sustainable DeFi yield gets significantly higher. I'm less interested in chasing high APYs that often mask impermanent loss or significant smart contract risk in this environment. Instead, my watchlist is really focusing on protocols that offer genuine utility and demonstrate robust tokenomics, where the yield isn't purely reliant on inflationary emissions. It's about finding the stable, blue-chip equivalents in DeFi, rather than the speculative long-shots. The recent uptick in $HKD is interesting but doesn't shift my underlying strategy for DeFi; my focus remains on the core impact of monetary policy on capital flows into and out of the crypto space, particularly stablecoin demand and lending protocols.
