Onboarding speed vs. depth of KYC for new PSPs

Running into a few new PSPs lately; some offer remarkably fast onboarding, almost too fast. Wondering if anyone has found a sweet spot where the KYB/AML is thorough enough to prevent later headaches, but doesn't drag out the initial setup for weeks.
