Quick question on stop-loss placement, especially with whipsaws
Still getting a handle on proper stop-loss placement, especially in volatile markets like we've seen recently. Do you folks tend to set wider stops initially and then tighten, or always aim for a specific ATR multiple from the get-go? Finding it tough to avoid getting stopped out on wicks, even when the overall direction I'm betting on plays out. Any advice on managing that initial chop?

I generally lean towards an ATR multiple from the start, often a bit wider than usual if I anticipate higher volatility. The key is to review the stop placement after the initial volatility subsides or after a significant price move, then adjust if necessary. It helps avoid those frustrating wick-outs.
