Scaling out of crypto trades – how do you manage?

I'm still pretty new to the crypto space, especially when it comes to active trading beyond just holding. I've been paper trading and doing small live trades with some success, but I consistently struggle with scaling out of positions. I find myself either taking too much off too early when it looks good, and then missing a bigger move, or holding too long trying to catch the absolute top and watching gains evaporate quickly, especially in volatile assets like $SOL or even $ETH sometimes. It feels like I'm leaving a lot on the table or giving back profits. For those who are consistently profitable, what's your general approach or philosophy to scaling out of a crypto trade? Do you use fixed percentages, look for specific technical levels, or is it more gut-feel based on momentum? Any insights on how to build a more robust exit strategy would be hugely appreciated.

You're probably overthinking it. Just pick a few reasonable price targets, scale out a bit at each, and let the rest ride with a trailing stop. Don't chase the absolute top; it rarely works out.

This is exactly what I'm struggling with too! Do you ever find yourself setting a target for scaling out, and then second-guessing it when the price goes up or down rapidly?
