The time I chased a $SOL breakout, lessons learned

I've been thinking a lot about the importance of not chasing price, especially in high-volatility crypto markets. There was a period a few months back where $SOL was on a parabolic run, seemingly every day. I'd missed the initial leg up, and then a second, and the FOMO started to really get to me. Instead of waiting for a clear consolidation or retest of a support level, I jumped in on what looked like a third breakout above a daily high. My rationale was that the momentum was so strong, it had to continue. Of course, the moment I entered, the candle wicked aggressively, and what I thought was support quickly evaporated. I moved my stop further down, trying to give it room, which was another mistake, essentially turning a reasonable risk into a much larger one. I ended up cutting it for a significant loss a few hours later, just to watch it then drop another 15% overnight. The lesson for me was clear: trying to catch the very tail end of a strong move without proper setup or pullback often leads to getting chopped. Patience is critical, and sometimes the best trade is no trade at all if your entry criteria aren't met.

Definitely relatable. It's so tough to watch something run and not jump in, even when you know better. How did you manage to get back to a more disciplined approach after that?

It's easy to say 'don't chase' in hindsight, but in the moment, when everything's green, that logic tends to go out the window. What specific signals did you miss that would have indicated a better entry, beyond just waiting for a retest?

Totally get this. FOMO is a killer in crypto, especially when things are running hot. It's so tough to sit on the sidelines when you see green candles everywhere.
