KYC Automation vs. Evolving AML Threats in Cross-Border Payments

Been thinking a lot about the push for greater automation in KYC processes, especially with the volume many fintechs are handling in cross-border payments. On one hand, automation promises efficiency and reduced manual error, which is crucial. But on the other, the AML landscape seems to be constantly evolving, with new typologies and sophisticated methods emerging all the time. Are we seeing a potential gap widen where automated systems, built on historical data and rules, might struggle to adapt quickly enough to novel red flags, particularly when dealing with diverse jurisdictional nuances?

Totally agree. Automation is key for scale, but it's a constant race to update those automated systems to catch new AML patterns. It almost feels like the bad actors evolve faster than the compliance tech sometimes.
