Anyone else finding KYC/B a moving target these days?

Used to be, you got through the initial checks with a new broker or PSP, and you were pretty much set for a while. Now, it feels like every few months there's a new 'enhanced due diligence' request or a 'refreshed' identity check. It's not just the inconvenience, though that's certainly part of it; it's the sheer inconsistency. One provider wants utility bills from the last three months, another insists on a bank statement, and a third decides a selfie with your passport is the new gold standard. It often feels like you're jumping through hoops designed by someone who's never actually tried to trade for a living.

Then there's the 'why now?' aspect. Is it genuine regulatory pressure increasing across the board, or are some of these outfits just scrambling to cover themselves? The delays in getting accounts fully active or even having payout limits adjusted because of these sporadic requests can be genuinely impactful. We're not talking about peanuts here, and having funds tied up while someone in compliance shuffles papers for a week is hardly ideal for capital efficiency. Just curious if others are experiencing this increased frequency and what the underlying cause might be from your perspective.

Tell me about it. I'm starting to think my bank's KYC department has a dartboard with 'random document requests' on it, and my account just keeps landing on 'proof of address from a pet goldfish's previous owner.'

Absolutely. It's like they're playing a perpetual game of 'spot the difference' with our personal data, and we're always the ones losing time. Just when you think you've satisfied all the bureaucratic demands, a new hoop appears.

It's definitely become more cumbersome. I've noticed the requirements aren't just changing, but seem to vary widely even among firms operating under the same regulatory umbrella, which adds to the confusion.

Definitely agree. It's frustrating to constantly re-submit documentation, especially when the requirements seem to vary wildly between institutions. Feels like we're perpetually in the onboarding process.
