BTC and the $NG correlation
Watching the $NG move today, up +2.32% to 5.955, making fresh highs for the session, reminds me of the broader energy story which is often overlooked in crypto. There's a decent chance, maybe 60/40, that we see $BTC stay range-bound between $28,000 and $31,000 for the remainder of October. The primary reasoning is a lack of clear catalysts on either side. Institutionals seem to be waiting for more concrete macro signals, especially from traditional commodities that underpin industrial demand and ultimately liquidity. While BTC has its own narratives, the energy complex, represented by things like $NG, often acts as a forward-looking indicator for inflation expectations and broader risk appetite. A sustained move higher in energy could eventually trickle down into more defensive postures across the board, potentially capping any significant BTC rallies in the short term until those pressures ease or new capital inflows emerge.
Connecting NG to BTC's short-term range seems like a stretch, even for a speculative market. While energy costs are a factor, I doubt they're dictating BTC's immediate price action within such a tight band.
