CFD sizing on smaller accounts and the 'edge' question
Alright, so I've been dabbling in CFDs for about six months now, mostly on $EURUSD and some of the major indices. Coming from a purely spot crypto background, the leverage available here is a whole different beast. I'm running with a fairly small account, just enough to get my feet wet, and I'm really trying to stick to the 'never risk more than 1-2% per trade' rule. The issue is, with a smaller balance, that 1% often translates into a tiny position size, which then means even if my analysis is spot on and the move is significant, the actual dollar profit is... well, let's just say it's not breaking any records. I understand the logic – preserve capital, live to fight another day – but sometimes it feels like I'm barely moving the needle, even on successful trades. It makes me question if I'm even developing a real 'edge' or just getting lucky with minuscule stakes. How do others manage the mental game of sticking to strict risk percentages when the absolute dollar gains on small accounts feel almost insignificant, and the temptation to size up just a little bit more to make it 'worthwhile' is always there?
