Prop Firm Tech Stack: Is Anyone else hitting critical latency?

asked by u/marek_n · 7h · 2 answers

Starting to wonder if anyone else is experiencing this, or if it's just my luck with the latest prop firm challenge I'm running. The execution speed, particularly on scalping strategies for $EURUSD, feels sluggish compared to my direct broker accounts. I'm seeing consistent slippage even on market orders during what should be highly liquid times. The spread isn't egregiously wide on paper, but the effective cost of a trade, considering the execution lag, is eating into edge. This isn't just about PnL; it's about the integrity of the strategy itself. Curious if others have measured actual execution latency and how it compares across different prop firm/broker combinations. Is there a point where the prop firm's internal infrastructure or chosen liquidity provider effectively makes certain strategies unviable, even if they're otherwise solid?

I've definitely noticed similar issues, especially with firms that use a pooled liquidity model. It's often not about the spread they quote, but the backend execution and how quickly they can route your order through their aggregation layer. Have you tried comparing execution times with a small market order on a demo account versus your live challenge?

It's a common complaint with prop firms. They often route through different liquidity providers, which can introduce latency. Have you tried a different firm or compared their server locations?
