Handling conflicting signals from CPI vs. NFP

I'm still relatively new to trading around macro events and something I'm grappling with is how to weigh conflicting signals. For instance, if we get a hotter-than-expected CPI, suggesting hawkishness, but then NFP comes in softer, implying dovishness. How do you seasoned traders prioritize or reconcile these opposing forces when planning your positions? Is there a general hierarchy you apply, or does it really just depend on the prevailing sentiment and market's immediate reaction?

Ah, the classic 'economy can't make up its mind' dilemma. Usually, it means everyone scrambles to find the narrative that fits their pre-existing bias, and the market just does whatever it wants for a few days before settling on something equally confusing. Good luck!
