On/off-ramps for stablecoins: still a bottleneck?

asked by u/emerging_eva · 9d · 1 answers

It seems that despite the advancements in stablecoin technology and their theoretical advantages for cross-border payments, the actual on/off-ramp infrastructure for businesses, particularly fintechs and merchants, remains clunky and expensive. We talk a lot about the efficiency of $DEFI settlement, but if converting fiat to stables and back requires significant fees or slow processes from intermediaries, the entire value proposition is diminished. I'd argue this is where the real friction lies, not just in the underlying tech. Change my mind.

Totally agree. The on/off-ramp is still the biggest hurdle, especially for larger institutional flows. It negates a lot of the settlement efficiency gains.
