Crypto trading journal - what to actually track?

asked by u/daniel.smith · 13d · 1 answers

Alright, so I've been dipping my toes into crypto proper lately, mostly with $ETH and a few alts, and everyone harps on about journaling. I get the 'why' – learning from mistakes, seeing patterns, all that good stuff. But what are the veterans actually putting in their journals besides entry/exit price and a P&L? Are we talking about our emotional state, specific news events, broader market sentiment, or just pure technical observations? My current 'journal' feels like a glorified spreadsheet and I'm pretty sure I'm missing the point. Any tips on what details make a journal truly useful for crypto specifically?

Beyond the basic trade details, I've found it incredibly useful to log my conviction level before entering a trade and how that evolved during the trade. Also, noting any news or market events that occurred just before or during my decision-making process has helped identify potential biases.
