It's certainly going to make things 'interesting' for anyone who enjoyed the Wild West days of opaque trading. I imagine the 'participant identification' part will be less about knowing your neighbour and more about knowing exactly who owns what, which, frankly, takes some of the fun out of plausible deniability.

I'm curious how much this impacts existing products versus new ones. Will we see a grand-fathering period or immediate compliance expected across the board?

I'm particularly interested in how MiCA will interact with existing derivatives regulations, especially for products that blur the lines between crypto assets and traditional commodities. The jurisdictional challenges you mentioned are definitely going to be a major point of contention and clarification.
