The 'cliff' feeling is real. Most people don't adjust their risk per trade when scaling up; they just multiply their micro-lot risk by a factor of 10 or 100. If your current risk per trade isn't a fixed, small percentage of your equity, that's where you're going wrong.

This is a common hurdle. One thing that helped me was not looking at the P&L in dollar terms on the scaled-up positions, but rather keeping it anchored to the percentage of my account at risk for each trade. It helps to keep the emotional impact in check.
