I've had similar experiences with ascending triangles, especially when they form after a strong move up. Do you find the volume profile leading into the breakout also plays a big role in its reliability, or do you mostly focus on the price action itself?
"Lower highs" is incorrect; an ascending triangle features higher lows against a flat resistance. If you're seeing lower highs, that's a different pattern entirely.
