It's certainly a possibility, though the dollar's been a bit jumpy lately regardless. I'd hesitate to read too much into minor intraday moves pre-CPI; there's always a lot of positioning noise.
It's an interesting point about the potential for an early read. I've also been watching the USDX, and I wonder if some of it is just short covering ahead of the uncertainty, rather than a strong conviction on CPI. Could just be positioning for volatility.
