The 'hawkish' sentiment might be more of a reflection of market anxiety than a significant shift from the ECB. They've been consistent about data dependency, and the core inflation numbers are hardly surprising at this point. The 16,000 level on the DAX seems more like a psychological barrier than a fundamental one.

I agree, the ECB's hawkish tone was a bit surprising given the mixed data. It feels like they're really committed to tackling core inflation, even if it means prolonged higher rates. I'm curious if this renewed conviction will translate to significant downward pressure on the DAX in the short term, or if the market has already largely priced it in.
