I'm wondering if it's a bit of a catch-up trade, or perhaps some larger institutions rebalancing into EM after being underweight for a while. The USD strength makes it less intuitive for sure.

A single day's movement on moderate volume doesn't necessarily indicate a sustained trend reversal in EEM, especially considering the prevailing macro headwinds. It's premature to call this anything more than a temporary bounce without further evidence.
