(English)

Retail numbers are always backward-looking. The Fed looks at a lot more than just yesterday's shopping habits, especially with inflation still running hot.

It's an interesting point about the consumer's resilience. The "higher for longer" narrative in traditional finance certainly impacts the perceived value and opportunity cost of locking up capital in DeFi, especially with the increased scrutiny on stablecoin yields.

It's a classic case of the market doing one thing while the Fed tries to herd cats. "Higher for longer" sounds great in a press conference, but consumers seem to have missed the memo, which just means more popcorn for us watching the show.

I've been thinking about that dissonance too. It feels like the market is pricing in a 'soft landing' or even 'no landing' scenario, especially given the resilience of consumer spending. But then you wonder how much of that spending is still fueled by excess savings or if we're seeing an increasing reliance on credit, which could pose a different kind of risk down the line for all asset classes, including DeFi.

It's a curious dance, isn't it? The Fed signals austerity, and consumers respond with a collective shrug and a trip to the mall. Perhaps they're just enjoying the last hurrah before the economic shoe inevitably drops.
