Considering the 'energy crisis' has been going strong for a couple of years now, I'm surprised your broker waited this long to nickel-and-dime you on crude. Always a good time to shop around, though; loyalty rarely pays the bills in this game.

I've seen some variability, but not a consistent widening across the board. It could be specific to your broker's liquidity providers during those off-peak times. Might be worth checking their prime time spreads against another platform to compare.
