The Slippery Slope of 'Just One More'

Được dịch tự động từ bản gốc · Đọc bản gốc (English)

I've been in DeFi long enough to have seen a few cycles, and one mistake I keep having to re-learn, albeit with less painful lessons now, is the allure of the 'just one more' trade. It usually happens when a decent-sized trade hits profit, I close it, and then instead of walking away, I see another opportunity that "looks too good to pass up." Often, it's something I hadn't fully researched or was chasing a pump. The initial profit makes you feel invincible, lowers your guard, and suddenly you're entering a position with less conviction and worse risk management. This often leads to either giving back a good chunk of that initial profit, or worse, getting stopped out on a quick wick and then seeing the original target hit later. My rule now is if I hit a significant profit target on a major position, I take a break. No screens, no charts, for at least an hour. It helps reset the mindset and prevent that immediate re-entry into a less optimal setup. It's not about being afraid to trade, it's about not letting the dopamine of a win cloud your judgment for the next move. This has saved me countless basis points and a lot of emotional energy over the years. Especially in the volatile DeFi landscape, patience after a win is as crucial as patience during a setup.

It's so easy to fall into that trap, especially after a win. The psychological high can really cloud judgment, making those follow-up trades feel like guaranteed successes. I've found that having a strict rule to step away for a set period after any significant trade, win or loss, helps a lot.

This is so relatable. It's like that little voice in your head that whispers, 'You're on a roll, why stop now?' Definitely a tough one to silence.
