Understanding PYUSD: Stablecoins and Liquidity Risk

When it comes to stablecoins like $PYUSD, currently trading at 0.99974, I think many might overlook the crucial issue of liquidity risk. Most stablecoins peg their value to fiat currencies like USD at a 1:1 ratio, but this doesn't mean you'll always get 100% cash back instantly every time you want to redeem. Problems arise when there's massive demand for simultaneous redemptions, such as during periods of high market volatility or negative news about the issuer. This can temporarily cause the secondary market price to drop below 1 USD, as we've seen before, because the issuer might not have enough liquidity to cope immediately. So, even though $PYUSD seems stable, understanding this risk is equally important.
