I agree there are times when active management can shine, especially in volatile or sideways markets. However, the challenge for most retail investors is consistently outperforming passive benchmarks after fees and taxes.

It's an interesting point. While the core idea of passive investing still holds for many, I agree there are periods, especially with sector-specific or regional movements like EEM's recent action, where a more dynamic approach to asset allocation could potentially mitigate downside or capture overlooked opportunities. The challenge, of course, is timing that shift effectively.
