Risks of Overheated Stocks and ZARJPY

Lately, I've seen some stocks rise surprisingly fast, seemingly without much fundamental support. Anyone have experience with stocks that rise sharply for no reason, and what was the outcome? Personally, I think the risk is very high; if you don't get in early, it's hard to get out.
Another thing I noticed is $ZARJPY, which I saw run from 9.911 to 9.98801 today. Has anyone been following or trading this pair? I'm not thinking of speculating, but just wondering what the market is reacting to so strongly. The market is really volatile in many ways these days.
