Is an offshore account still necessary in the digital age?

Personally, I think rushing to open an offshore account might not be 'necessary' anymore in an era where digital financial services are so easily accessible. If you just want to keep things a bit private, there are other ways. $SLV is still hovering around 53.985 today, not much excitement. Anyone who disagrees can argue with me.
