Question about managing risk with altcoin pumps, specifically position size vs. profit taking.

Hey everyone, been trying to get a handle on risk when some of these smaller caps suddenly decide to go parabolic. Say you've got a decent chunk in an alt that's been consolidating forever, and then out of nowhere it does a 2x or 3x in a day or two. My usual move is to take out the initial capital and let the rest ride. But I'm wondering, for those rapid pumps, do you guys adjust your position size more aggressively? Like, instead of just taking out capital, do you trim hard to lock in a percentage gain, or do you still let a good portion ride even after a quick pump? I'm trying to balance locking in profits against not selling too early if it's got more room, but the volatility on these quick pumps makes it tough to decide on a system. How do you approach position sizing and profit taking when an altcoin goes on a sudden, big run?

Taking out initial capital is standard. For those rapid pumps, I usually scale out a bit more than just the capital. Letting everything ride after a 3x in a day is just gambling with house money, not investing.

I do something similar, taking out initial capital. For those rapid pumps, I'll often scale out a bit more than just my initial capital to lock in some profit, then let a smaller portion ride.
