Inquiring about Liquidity Stability for Gold Trading with Brokers (XAUUSD)

I'd like to ask fellow traders about their experiences. Lately, I've been trading $XAUUSD more often, and sometimes I notice that during major news events or highly volatile markets, there's quite a bit of slippage. Plus, sometimes the spread widens abnormally. I want to know how much the liquidity for $XAUUSD actually differs among brokers, or if this is just normal for the gold market. I'm not sure if it reflects the broker's liquidity infrastructure as well.
