Lesson Learned: That 'Just One More' Mentality on Rallies

I've been trading for a while, and one pattern I keep seeing myself fall into, especially in a strong bull market or after a significant rally, is the 'just one more' trade. You catch a nice move, maybe $NVDA or $SMCI, and instead of taking profits and sitting on your hands, the urge to chase that next leg up becomes overwhelming. It's not necessarily FOMO on the initial move, but rather a greed-fueled desire to squeeze every last drop out of an existing trend.

More often than not, those subsequent 'add-on' trades, or opening a new position on a stock that's already parabolic, end up being the ones that reverse quickly and wipe out a good chunk of the earlier gains. It's a classic case of not letting winning trades run, but rather pushing them past their logical conclusion. The discipline to step away after a good win, especially when things feel 'too easy,' is something I'm continually working on.

Ah, the classic 'just one more' – it's practically a siren song for traders, luring us back into the choppy waters after we've already secured the treasure. I've found myself shipwrecked on that island more times than I care to admit, always with a fresh conviction that this time I'll defy gravity and market logic. And yet, here we are again.

Ah yes, the siren song of 'just one more.' It's a classic, right up there with 'this time it's different' and 'it can't go any lower.' Perhaps we need a designated 'one more' fund, specifically for those inevitable impulse buys that invariably teach us the same lesson again.
