The time I chased $NVDA into oblivion

I've been trading for a while, but a classic mistake I made just last year still stings. $NVDA was on an absolute tear, and I had been watching it for weeks, telling myself I'd wait for a pullback. Of course, the pullback never came, or at least not one I felt was significant enough. FOMO eventually got the better of me. I bought in, not at the highs, but definitely well past any reasonable entry point, based on the daily chart. My rationale was that it had to keep going, and I was going to miss the boat.

The initial small dip after my entry shook me, and instead of sticking to a pre-defined stop, I moved it down. Then I moved it again. I justified it by thinking, 'It's a strong company, it'll bounce back.' It did, eventually, but not before hitting my significantly wider, and frankly, arbitrary second stop. I ended up cutting a much larger loss than I would have if I'd just respected my original plan. The lesson was stark: chasing a runaway train usually means you're buying someone else's exit liquidity, and moving your stop to avoid taking a small loss often just guarantees a bigger one down the line. Discipline over emotion, always.
