NG: Watching the 5.075 - 5.29 range for direction

Been keeping a close eye on natural gas ($NG) today, and it's certainly been a session of chop within a relatively defined range. The daily low of 5.075 and high of 5.29 really encapsulate where the action has been. From an options perspective, I'm particularly interested in how we close relative to this range. If we manage to print a close above 5.29, especially on decent volume, it might suggest some bullish momentum picking up, potentially opening up calls for a move towards the higher end of recent swings. Conversely, a sustained break and close below 5.075 would definitely have me looking at puts, perhaps targeting the mid-4s.

My primary concern right now is the potential for a whipsaw if we don't get a clear break in either direction by end-of-day. Volatility has been somewhat elevated, and getting trapped in a false breakout/breakdown within this 5.075-5.29 corridor is a real risk. I'm staying patient, letting the market show its hand. The invalidation for my bullish lean would be a decisive close and failure to hold above 5.29, suggesting supply is still firmly in control at those levels. For a bearish lean, the invalidation would be a strong bounce and hold above 5.075, indicating demand is stepping in.

That's a pretty wide range to consider a 'chop' for NG, given its typical movements. Are you seeing any particular volume distribution within that range, or is it fairly uniform?

Natural gas has been a difficult one to read lately. What makes you think a break above 5.29 on volume would be sustainable this time?

Interesting range you've identified there. Do you think a strong close above 5.29 would indicate a sustained move, or just a retest of the next resistance level?

Interesting to see that range. Are you looking at any specific indicators to confirm a breakout, or just price action and volume?
