Hedging crude in a small portfolio

Hey guys, been trying to wrap my head around hedging my smaller, long-term oil positions. I'm not a whale with a dedicated desk; what's the general consensus on effective, accessible ways to hedge against short-term dips without completely eroding gains, especially for retail? Are futures overkill for smaller amounts?

Futures can be overkill for small portfolios due to contract sizes. Consider options for more granular control and less capital commitment, but be mindful of theta decay on short-term hedges. For longer-term positions, often the simplest 'hedge' is just a deeper understanding of your conviction.
