WTI's Resistance at 78.50 - A Quick Look
Been watching crude ($CL_F) for a bit now, specifically the WTI contract. There's a persistent resistance level around the 78.50 mark that's proving to be quite stubborn. We've seen a few attempts to push through over the last couple of weeks, but each time it's been rejected, leading to a pull-back.
From a purely technical perspective, this suggests a consolidation phase or a potential for a deeper correction if that level holds. My concern would be if we see a sustained close above 79.00 - that would, in my view, invalidate the current bearish sentiment around this specific resistance and likely open the door for a retest of the early May highs. Until then, it seems like a ceiling rather than a launching pad. Of course, energy markets are inherently volatile and any significant geopolitical event could throw this all out the window.
Agree, that 78.50 level has been a brick wall. Wonder if we'll see enough demand to break it before the next inventory report.
