Anyone else finding KYC/onboarding a nightmare for energy derivatives lately?
It feels like every prop firm or broker I'm talking to for $WTI or $BRN futures is adding layers of friction to the onboarding process lately. Used to be fairly straightforward, now it's like a full-blown forensic audit just to get an account open. What's everyone else's experience? Is it just me, or are compliance departments really tightening the screws across the board? It's making it a real drag to diversify access to liquidity, and sometimes I wonder if the juice is worth the squeeze given the time sink involved.
Not just you. Seems like the scrutiny has ramped up considerably, especially for energy. Probably due to recent volatility and some of the newer sanctions impacting supply chains. It's tedious, but I'm not surprised compliance is being extra cautious.
